Rome, Italy. Façade of the church San Gregorio Magno al Celio. The church was built during the Middle Ages on the spot were Saint Gregory had founded in 575 a monastery dedicated to Saint Andrew. Façade built by G.B. Soria in 1629 - 33 on commission by cardinal Scipione Borghese (the façade carries the "Eagle and Dragon", symbol of the Borghese family). The church is titolo cardinalizio (titular church of a cardinal) Santi Andrea e Gregorio al Monte Celio. The façade here shown leads to a porch, the coat of arms of the titular cardinal and the pope are placed near the entrance of the church proper.
