Description
Rome, Italy. Nocturne view of the right clock of Saint Peter's in the Vatican, one of the four clocks added by Giuseppe Valadier (1785), in baroque style, to the façade by Carlo Maderno. The balustrade of Saint Peter's has thirteen statues (Christ, Saint John the Baptist, and all the apostles less Saint Peter). The statues visible in this picture are from left Saint Simon the Zealot (San Simone Cananeo) whose attribute is the saw, and Saint James the Less (San Giacomo il Minore) whose attribute is the wool carder stick.
