Description
Rome, Italy. Piazza del Popolo. One of the four lions in Egyptian style designed by Giuseppe Valadier, throwing water into four basins near the pedestal of the Obelisco Flaminio. Giuseppe Valadier is the author of the deep reworking of the square which took place in the years 1818 - 1824. The lions are inspired to the Egyptian lions belonging, in the times of the ancient Romans, to the Iseo Campense, and now visible at the beginning of the cordonata leading to Piazza del Campidoglio.
