Description
Rome, Italy. The two Dioscuri, or Castori (Castor and Pollux), on top of the cordonata leading to Piazza del Campidoglio. These statues come from the Temple dedicated to the Dioscuri on the so called "Monte Cenci" (in the Ghetto) and date back to the late Roman Empire. The original project by Michelangelo would have made use of the statues of Castor and Pollux which are now in Piazza del Quirinale.
